Why Assessment?
The purpose of assessment is to answer questions that you or your doctor have about symptoms, behaviors, functioning, diagnosis, and treatment. Assessment allows a wide range of concerns to be comprehensively addressed within a two to four week period.
The assessment process can result in highly strategic and thoroughly informed treatment. Knowledge of assessment findings makes it is less likely that important and sometimes “masked” aspects of a person’s difficulties will be overlooked.
By providing information not readily accessible via traditional therapy, assessment saves time and money. It can also reduce or eliminate ongoing worries and concerns. People generally express relief and a sense of clarity or empowerment upon getting their assessment results.

SOME REASONS FOR SEEKING ASSESSMENT:
If difficult symptoms, emotions, or behaviors are making it hard to function at home, school, work, or in relationships, it is likely that quality assessment services can pinpoint what the causes are and what can help.
- “I’m not sure what I have.”
- “My diagnosis doesn’t seem to fit.”
- “I want to know how ‘X’ is affecting my child. I’m concerned.”
- “I wonder if I have a learning disability.”
- “I need to understand where my child’s behavior is coming from.”
- “I need testing for school admission.”
- “Different doctors have told me different diagnoses.”
- “My child has gotten into legal trouble. I need an evaluation to address the situation.”
- “Treatment hasn’t brought enough relief. What more can I do to deal with this?”
- “I want a comprehensive understanding of my child’s situation.”
- “My problems aren’t getting better despite treatment and/or a change in my circumstances.”
- “I need to determine if my child is gifted.”
- “I want to know if there might be neurological impairment.”
